Buddhism is a dharma, non-theistic religion and a philosophy. [1] Buddhism is also known as Buddha Dharma or Dhamma, which means "Buddha's teachings in Sanskrit and Pali, languages of ancient Buddhist texts. Buddhism was founded around the V century BC by Siddhartha Gautama, hereafter referred to as the Buddha. " Christianity is a monotheistic [1] religion centered on the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, as is presented in the New Testament. [2] Christians believe that Jesus is the Son of God and the Messiah prophesied in the Old Testament. With an estimated 2100 million adherents in 2001, Christianity is the largest religion in the world. [3] is the dominant religion in Europe, America, South Africa, the Philippines and Oceania. [4] There is also growing rapidly in Asia, especially China and South Korea [5]. Christianity shares its origins and many religious texts with Judaism, especially the Hebrew Bible, known to Christians as the Old Testament. [6] Like Judaism and Islam, Christianity is considered a religion of Abraham (See also, Judeo-Christian). [7] [8] The name "Christian" (Greek strong Χριστιανός G5546) is say, "Belonging to Christ" or "partisan of Christ" [9], first applied to the disciples in Antioch, as in Acts 11:26. [10] The first recorded use of the word "Christianity" (Χριστιανισμός Greek) is by Ignatius of Antioch. Islam (Arabic: الإسلام; al-'islām (help info)) (Persian: اسلام) is a monotheistic religion home with the teachings of Muhammad in the 7th century Arab religious and political figure. (In Arabic: الله Allah) and the word Muslim means "one who submits (to God)" [2] Muslims believe God revealed the Koran to Muhammad and Muhammad is the last prophet God. The Quran and the Sunna (sayings and deeds of Muhammad) are considered as the fundamental sources of Islam. [3] [4] Muslims do not regard Muhammad as the founder of a new religion, but as the restorer of the original monotheistic faith of Abraham, Moses, Jesus and other prophets. They argue that some of the messages of these prophets became distorted over time either in interpretation, in text, or both. [5] [6] [7] Like Judaism and Christianity, Islam is an Abrahamic religion. [8] Islam includes a wide variety of religious practices. All members are required to fulfill the five pillars of Islam, which are five simple functions that serve to unite Muslims in a community. [9] Over the centuries, Islamic law (sharia) has developed a tradition of decisions that touch nearly every aspect of life and society. In addition to the five pillars of this tradition range from practical matters like dietary laws and practices of jihad. [10] [11] Today, Islam is the dominant religion in North Africa, West Africa, the Horn of Africa, Middle East, Central Asia, South Asia and much India subcontinent. Larger communities may also be in China, Western Europe, the Balkan Peninsula and Russia. Only about 20 percent of Muslims from Arab countries. Judaism is a monotheistic religion first, and has recorded one of the oldest religious traditions still existing today. Jewish history and doctrines have influenced other Abrahamic religions such as Christianity, Islam and the Baha'i Faith Samaritanism. While Judaism has seldom, if ever, been monolithic in practice has always been monotheistic in theology. It differs from many religions in that central authority not belonging to any person or group, but in the texts sacred traditions. Over the centuries, Judaism was focused on a number of religious principles, the most important is the belief in a single, omniscient, omnipotent and benevolent, transcendent God who created the universe and continues to participate in their government. According to traditional Jewish belief, the God who created the world established a covenant with the Jewish people, and revealed his laws and commandments to Moses on Mount Sinai, in the form of the Torah. The traditional practice of Judaism revolves around the study and observation of laws and commandments of God as written in the Torah and the Talmud explains. With 14 million members in 2006 [1] Judaism is the eleventh largest in the world of organized religion. http://www.religioustolerance.org/buddhism.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddhism http://www.buddhanet.net/ http:// http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christianity www.religioustolerance.org / christ.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam http: / / http www.islam101.com/ : / / http://www.religioustolerance.org/islam.htm en.wikipedia.org / wiki / http://www.religioustolerance.org/judaism http://www.jewfaq.org/index.htm. htm Judaism
